The latest news about Medicare and how NSC is working to stop the politicians from destoying senior citizen's healthcare.
President Barack Obama once again has his sights set on Medicare and slashing health care for senior citizens in order to pay for ObamaCare.
That's why the National Seniors Council has launched a new national grassroots campaign to defend Medicare and prevent the program from being looted by the power-crazed liberals in the White House.
All NSC members will soon be receiving an urgent letter from National Director Robert Crone asking them to sign a "Citizens Declaration in Support of Medicare" and return it to NSC as quickly as possible. These declarations will be used to persuade Congress to stand up to the Administration and protect Medicare.
"Because of the soaring budget deficits he is running up, Obama doesn't have the money to pay for his radical health care scam," Crone says. "So he is searching for ways to fund this health care power grab, and he has decided that cutting Medicare will get him the money to do it. The President wants to slash Medicare so fewer and fewer doctors will be able to afford to care for Medicare patients," explains Crone. "That means that if you are on Medicare, you may no longer be able to see your regular doctor. Instead you may have to go to some doctor you don't even know. And that doctor is sure to be less experienced than your current doctor. This is all part of the President's grand vision for 'cutting costs' and we must fight it."
NSC's legislative team helped craft this campaign specifically to put political heat on the "middle-of-the-road" Congressmen and Senators. "These unprincipled politicians in Congress change their position based on which way the wind is blowing. I am identifying those politicians, so I can make sure they oppose any cuts to Medicare," Crone writes in the letter. "Your declaration, along with the thousands of others I am collecting, will show these politicians how many people are firmly against cutting Medicare. This will turn up the heat and pressure them into voting the right way."
Every single NSC member must sign and return their declarations as quickly as possible, Crone warns, because ObamaCare is such a financial disaster. "If we don't take a stand now, Obama is going to loot Medicare to pay for this insane law and seniors are going to be severely hurt," he explains. "I can't stress enough how important this campaign is." Any NSC member who does not receive their letter and declaration or who wants more information about how Medicare cuts could affect them should contact NSC's Washington, DC, office at (571) 425-4153.
President Obama has outlined his plan to cut the federal budget deficit and it is very bad news for America’s senior citizens. The plan relies heavily on cutting Medicare expenditures through an unelected board of bureaucrats established by Obamacare.
Under Obama’s proposal, the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) will be charged with being very aggressive in approving Medicare payments to doctors in order to save the government money.
Despite public opinion polls that show the American people still support complete repeal of President Obama’s Health Control Law, Senate Republicans are still considering efforts that would merely change the controversial measure.
"The National Seniors Council opposes any effort short of complete repeal of the Health Control Law," says NSC National Director Robert Crone. "Senate Republicans need to listen to the American people and strike this law from the books."
In a statement late last year thought to mirror the thinking of Senate Republican leaders, outgoing ranking Republican on the Senate Budget Committee Judd Gregg declared in response to calls for either cutting off funding for implementing the law or for outright repeal, "I don’t think starving or repealing is probably the best approach here. You basically go in and restructure it."
Other Senate Republicans have expressed similar sentiments, as well, including Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell.
While the Obama Administration is both gutting Medicare by diverting that program’s funding to pay for the implementation of Obamacare, some Members of Congress are working to reform Medicare by allowing senior citizens to exercise more control over their health care.
Representative Marsha Blackburn recently introduced H.R. 103, the Health Care Choices for Seniors Act. The bill allows senior citizens who are eligible to receive Medicare benefits to elect instead to receive a voucher that can be used to pay for private health insurance or can be deposited in a health savings account.
"This is an excellent reform bill and the National Seniors Council supports it wholeheartedly," says National Director Robert Crone. "America’s senior citizens need more freedom and more control over their health care benefits. What they don’t need is more government and health care rationing."
National Seniors Council National Director Robert Crone lashed out at President Obama for using his recess appointment power to install Donald Berwick as the head of Medicare.
"Donald Berwick is a fervent supporter of government control over health care and government- mandated health care rationing. He should never have been even considered for this important post. By ignoring the United State Senate and not even allowing the people’s representatives the opportunity to question Dr. Berwick is a travesty and an affront to democracy," Crone said in a public statement upon learning of the recess appointment.
